Post-Pastoral

Visible cities is another great project exhibited at Zonezero.

Anuschka Reichmann Lemos and her colleagues starkly show how the city is encountered, perceived. We need to take a moment and get past the nostalgic fetishes of the wilderness or the agrarian landscape. The post-pastoral by contrast is what we have now. Although the sun still shines brightly in the corner of the childish images, removing the sentimental veil allows objects to be appreciated for their own aesthetic qualities. Like a new moment of decolonization, the place is surprisingly present - and the aesthetic experience is… yours. I can’t wait to show some of the work students are doing on this.
