Desperation on the part of rapacious and recent PhDs, alas, ensures that your attempt to lure interesting candidates will disappear beneath the mere fact that IT IS A JOB! I wonder if academic departments ever hire who/what they advertise for anyway? I’d love to believe your ideas for the job ads but, I mean, when you have selection committees with split opinions, who don’t have time to really check out the work of candidates, and candidates so desperate they may be better ACTORS than academics … who wins in the end?

Call me a jaded old cynic … Okay, I’d go for the first one. I’m available from June 30th.

My bulb is immediately illuminated by the third one…but as I was in the middle of screwing said lightbulb in, the word “continental” made me drop it and it is now smashed pathetically on the floor - I guess it’s too much to hope that the “continental” was referring to a free breakfast?
