Prairie Flaneur – Pt 2

Few things about the prairies are as beautiful to me as the canola fields in bloom. But my favourite places in the Alberta landscape spread out from the edges of the prairie – from the foothills up to places like Morraine Lake and the Columbia Icefields, and down to the badlands and desert. I love having brunch at the Banff Springs Hotel, or visiting Frank Slide, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Writing-on-Stone and the Tyrrell. The Devonian Botanic Garden and the Muttart Conservatory are very cool, and for some reason there is a bunch of exotic animal farms and zoos scattered around rural areas, but if you want to go back into the city the Calgary Zoo is amazing too. St. Mary’s is also interesting and the Glenbow has a gorgeous Asian art collection.

In Alberta flaneurs drive cars.
