Aesthetics and mobility
I’m currently writing a book review on aesthetics and mobility for the print-version of the journal and thought I’d post a few links here too.
ROAM - a Reader on the Aesthetics of Mobility by Anthony Hoete (ed.)
Walkscapes: Walking as an aesthetic practice by Francesco Careri
An Exeter Mis-Guide by Wrights & Sites
Moving around has always been part of human experience, but the increasing pervasiveness of mobile technologies in certain parts of the world has imbued the question of mobility with renewed importance and attention. As we struggle to understand the technological and social dimensions of mobility, there is an increasing need to also understand the ethics and aesthetics involved. Each of these books raises questions of sensuousness and politics from the unique perspective of embodied mobility - giving us the means to engage some of the less tangible, but no less felt, aspects of our mobile world.
